I think Hayes is right about that. Most people who invoke PC are those that don't care who they offend. Now, Donald Trump may well have been talking about the media, but his followers didn't get that and many of the worst just want to use these words with impunity, which I hope never become accepted.

Mostly it is about not being a jerk, but it sometimes does seem like people are overly sensitive.
