30 years ago, productions like that couldn’t reach an audience through streaming media, and the incipient www just wasn’t up to the task of wide-scale dissemination. Perhaps neural connections will get made if a critical mass of viewers binge-watch The Handmaid’s Tale, followed by Shiny Happy People. Without these productions, much of our population would remain oblivious of the plans the American Taliban have for everyone else.

On edit: not gonna edit. Just wanted to make it clear that I recognize Margaret Atwood’s work as fiction. My sloppy writing may imply otherwise. My point is expressing thanks that well-made accounts of threats to democracy can reach a wider audience. Dateline NBC and their ilk just don’t cut it.
