10. Hummingbirds hibernate at night. I've done one rescue.

Most amazing experience, it was caught by a cat, not badly hurt but we kept it for a few days til it could really fly. We crushed mealworms and added them to the sucrose mix and fed the baby almost constantly. Thank heaven they literally go dormant at night! We let the little one (not sure the sex as it was so young) perch in a branch after a couple of days and self feed and one day "she" was gone. A little miracle!
