I really think Democrats are starting to wake up [View all]

A few weeks ago I mentioned a couple of long-time DFL activists who, while once Clinton supporters, are now hoping for a Warren or Sanders run.

Last week I was at dinner with some other long time DFLers. One of those present is really the definition of a party hack - she's held public office, both elected and appointed, DNC type, managed to be a delegate to a couple national conventions. She really was the very definition of a moderate Democrat. She is now in her 80s.

Midway through dinner, she says to me, "You know, I miss Wellstone more the longer he's gone." (Well, most of us do so that's not a big surprise - but she wasn't his biggest supporter when he first ran.) Then she added, "And I know you and I argued when Franken ran and I was sure he'd be a disaster but I'll admit I was wrong and I like him more everyday." (!)

So, knowing she had been a big Klobuchar booster, I did say, "What about Amy?" (we in Minnesota always call our politicians by their first names - even to their faces - because we're just all so damn friendly). And she said "Don't mention that woman's name to me."

And she also prefers Warren to Clinton.

I'm teliing ya, the tide is turning.
