24. "Religion is not the opiate of the masses, pop culture is."
One of the most insightful statements made on DU. I couldn't agree more. Pop culture is the driving, yet subtle force that keeps us all ignorant and complacent. Only when we see what pop culture truly is, a tool for selling which in and of itself makes it a controlling device, do we began to understand why we are in our current situation.
