15. This post is rank speculation resulting in unbelievable scenario!
Unwritten Rule One for DU: engage brain cells before posting!

First of all, your link does not connect to any such story. If you can be more precise in the link, I"ll be glad to read your source. The link does connect to a short list of other stories, and then a series of dates for general video news. However your post purports to quote written text.

Secondly, from what you do quote, there are no sources alluded to by InWorldReport, and in fact the quote describes itself as speculation. Maybe they can't reveal the name of a source, but one does expect some reference like "a highly placed military source" or a German, Russian, American or Rumanian govt. source. And look at the vague language. Would any credible reporter claim that Russia supplies "most of" Europe's natural gas through "a single pipeline", without detailing how much gas that is, either in measurable amounts, or as a percentage? How long is this pipeline which would be shut down? How much profit (calculated in dollars/Euros/rubles/whatever) would impoverished Russia lose by this action? What you give us are the kind of wild, exaggerated, undocumented, unspecific claims that we typically go to Snopes to debunk.

I mean, THINK about this. Your story means cash strapped Russia, on the basis of sheer speculation of what the US will do, Iran will do,, Europe will do AND what Rumania will do - a cumulative tsumani wave of speculation - Russia will default on very lucrative contracts with many countries in Europe and close down its pipeline to Europe. Now how on earth can Russia avoid losing the sale of millions of dollars worth of natural gas? Every responsible country/utility has already locked in its supply for the coming winter. Russia would have to build a very expensive and lengthy new pipeline to deliver its product elsewhere - I won't even bother to look up what countries it would have to cross and how delicate and expensive those negotiations would be. And I doubt any customer would even contract with Russia until the supply line was in place. The more I analyze these speculations, the more ridiculous they are.

Next,, it's mid August.. Even contracting all the work to Halliburton without taking time to get bids, it seems undoable to build such a hugh military base and relocate troops there by this winter in order to carry out the speculated threat to Russia.

If at some point in time, the base is built, yada,yada,yada.. . .
and the US threatens Russia, why would Russia hold Europe accountable for Bush's actions? Why would Russia throw away millions in revenues? The whole world knows what contempt the Europeans have for Bush. Why would European countries piss off Russia just to wave the flag for bush?

Bush has threatened for a long time to move US troops out of Germany, and he may well move them to Rumania. Maybe he's already secretly building a base there. But let's get some credible source on that story.
