6. Were these radiation suits or tennis shoes with duct tape around them?

Seeped into their boots? They are sending workers into a highly cancerous and radioactive hazardous waste site with leaky boots? They could have bought better stuff on ebay and had it delivered in the 10 days they had before this happened. Maybe even quicker from some local suppliers. Who is running this tour?

So TEPCO is holding onto some profit by not providing a properly equipped safety\fire department? They surely pay taxes so sufficient responders can be properly equipped and trained. Or are the fire stations just a gift from their grateful-to-have-a-job neighbors?

We equip fire stations at airports with multiple fast trucks that can spray enough foam to put out an airliner, and we do that for the 400 or so passengers on a 747. Yet before us is a set of nuclear reactors which provide a known threat in a disaster that is today affecting the health of millions of people to varying degrees. So the response is 20 trucks who site parked near the site, one of which tehy used because it has a boom that reaches high enough to put water in a spent fuel pool or through the roof of a multi-story building. For backup they call in relatively slow concrete pumpers to dribble more water. While on tv someone (a fireman) says during an interview "We weren't trained for this".

GE: Imagination at work. Indeed. How 'bout you imagine up proper safety clothing, training, and equipment for sufficent people who might
have to respond to plant emergencies, and insist it be in place before you sell them a plant?
