They found/created people like the PNACers and the leaders of the fundie cults which think and act in accord with the survival needs of the the now dominant sector of capital. These people personify and mirror and act on the half of automatons that have no heart and tolerate no boundaries in their drive to turn everything and everyone into a means for profit and the accumulation of yet more capital. As for fooling the people, well, that's a part of the operation that has been underway for a long time. Buying acquiescence through social progress in general is now considered to be an obsolete mechanism for societal control.
