6. Beg to differ
it's all about the image.

that picture of McCain chowsing birthday cake with Bush while people drown in their own attics played very well to the base.

McCain, whatever he may say at this point, has been leashed and brought to heel by the bushistas. they screwed with his family for lawd's sake, and he still attached his mouth to their tailpipes like it was an oxygen tank.

Deal cut and done. McCain/Jeb Bush. Maybe Condi, they're just cynical enough, but the taint of Iraq might still styink in '08.
Lugar would be a better bet for the ticket; the elder statesman (Muskie/Bentsen) sydrome.

Frist is fried, Romney can't even get reelected in MA; besides, it'll be intersting to see how a Mormon born in Michigan, governing the bluest state in the union plays in Alabama.

Newt? Done.
George Allen? Cornered the moron vote, perhaps, but not exactly well-thought of by republicans and human beings outside of the beltway. Warner is, and Warner makes no secret of his disdain for Allen.

If they go to the heartland, (Brownback, any other white guy senator) they will make no progress where they need to- the north, west, southwest, and the rust belt.

I think the gene pool is very shallow for pugs in '08.
