5. I'm not going to defend Jeb Bush
because I think he is a petulant weenie.

That said, I will make this point. There are huge billboard signs in my FL town that keep a running total of how many days until hurricane season, and how many days LEFT in hurricane season. Grocery store bags print lists of things you should have in your hurricane prep kit. It is hammered into us on the news and radio constantly. People knew this storm was coming for close to a week. I would never leave my home for a shelter without enough food and water for us for at least five days.

Yes, I know there are poor folks who are handicapped and can't carry it, too old, sick, etc. I understand that. And they should be given top priority in having their basic needs met. My point is that there has to be some self-sufficiency element in this situation with able-bodied folks. Depending on FEMA to save us is just plain dumb (given their track record). When it comes to food and water, you have to take care of yourself, and bring enough to help somebody else if you can.

Granny rant over. I really am a nice old gal...muttering into my coffee.
