DU: You've Done It! 1000 Donations! [View All]

Dear DUers,

You've done it! You achieved the goal of 1000 donations today at 6pm. On behalf of the Administrators of Democratic Underground, I want to express our gratitude.

On Wednesday we thought it couldn't be done - we weren't even sure whether we would beat our total from the previous fund drive. But by the end of the week the donations were rolling in, and today the goal was reached.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has donated to DU, past and present, and particularly those of you who donated during this record-breaking fund drive. You continue to prove that an independent website like DU can thrive and succeed based on the contributions of its members.

I also want to say how thrilled we are to be able to provide this service for everyone. It's been mentioned on a few occasions that as administrators, we mainly spend our time dealing with problems at DU, and we don't have time to take part in all the great stuff that goes on here. So we tend to get a skewed perspective of whether or not people are enjoying themselves, and to be honest, it can be quite detrimental to our morale. But this fund drive has simply blown our minds - it's been so great this week to see so many people pulling together and working so hard to provide community we can all enjoy.

Since we've reached the goal, in a few minutes I'll be taking down all the interrupt pages and fund drive reminders. HOWEVER: the fund drive is continuing - we have one more day to go! So if you haven't found time to donate yet, please don't let this stop you :)

On Monday afternoon we will tally all the donations, including the snail mail donations which we have recived so far, and we'll let you know how many donations we received.

Once again, I want to express our thanks. We have been totally blown away by your generosity.
