24. that I don't know, but this I do
If you go to film school, there are two routes to go.

1. You can either make a great short film - but if you decide to go this route you must go all the way. I recommend keeping it short and making it spectacular so you don't run out of money. The film school of course will give you some material, but usually you'll pay some out of pocket. If this is what you decide to do make sure you have enough resources to get the film completed, with sound, credits, and copies that you can distribute.

2. Some people don't necessarily want to direct or make a film - if this is the case - MAKE SURE YOU GET AN INTERNSHIP.

Everyone I knew in film school who got an internship in their last year ended up working in some capacity in the business. One of them went on to produce American Beauty and Six Feet Under.

I neither completed my film nor got an internship, and thus I work at an insurance company while I hack away at screenplays - with a lot of life detours along the way.

I read all the time tho about young film students coming out of school with a super film that gets them notice and work. Film school is also an amazingly fun time - it's like going to film camp.
