Partner/spouse, guest, handyman...doesn't matter.

My definition of "cheating," in just about any situation: Doing something without your partner's knowledge or consent that you know you couldn't do WITH their knowledge or consent.

So, if you know your husband would say no if you asked if you could smoke out of the window...yes, you're cheating. If you genuinely believe he wouldn't care if you did it while he's out of town, you're not cheating (but you are possibly deluding yourself).

No, it doesn't rise to the level of infidelity-type cheating, or embezzlement-type cheating, but it's still a breach of trust.

Knock it off.
