I live in NC too and I know this is a program they have because a friend of mine got paid by DSS to care for her mom. She had a lot of kids so it helped her, as part of her income. She was doing it anyway but this helped her bring in more money. My aunt and I would have been able to get paid to take care of my grandmother but my aunt didn't want to bother with the paperwork. I don't know how much money it is but it is some kind of aid program they have. They probably have other stuff too, like care nurses that can come out. I would definitely call up DSS and see what they have to offer.
