Secretariat's (Rags to Riches Great Grandsire and the Triple Crown Winner) had I think was the fastest time at: 2:24.

Most of the times fall like this

2:26 4/5 - in 1978 by Affirmed The last Triple Crown Winner

2:29 3/5 - in 1977 by Seattle Slew a Triple Crown winner and her grand sire.

The longest time was 2:31 in 1941 by Whirlaway the Triple Crown winner that year.

This year's time was 2:28.74.

Of course, it will be kind of hard to beat Secretariat's time. That was one amazing race and one we will probably never see the likes of again. but who knows. I'm sure no one thought another filly would beat a bunch of colts again in the Belmont either.

edited to add, I grew up watching horse racing. I'm not into as much as I used to be. But that being said, I still wish I could have seen the likes of Man o War and Secretariat race.
