1. How I make movie clips using Dish DVR and a recordable DVD
I have a PVR from Dish (which I believe is being called now a DVR). When I see something I want to keep, I record it to PVR. Later, when I have time, I record those clips to DVD drive on DVD-RW disks. (Using a PC running Windows) The files created are .VOB, which have to be translated to a friendlier format, such as WMV, Mpeg, Rm, etc. The program I use for that is AVS Video Converter 3.2. After the file is converted to WMV format, I load it up in Windows Movie Maker and edit it. My movies are not very sophisticated, but Movie Maker lets you do transitions, titles, add music, sound, etc and cut/clip the frames. I usually, for size reasons, when saving the file, make it smaller than the recommended size, for internet disk space reasons.

After the movie file is made, I upload it to the internet and put a link up.

***I also have a program called RM Recorder that lets you, in some cases, record RM movies for your local drive.

****We don't happen to have this type of setup, but another way to record movies would be to put a tv tuner card in your PC and directly record that way.
