4. I totally agree about Rehnquist
Earlier today, I suggested that we ought to be pushing the right-wing judges issue hard in last minute LTTEs; here's my earlier post:

I am writing my local paper to remind independent voters, Republican women, and anyone concerned about voting rights that Bush has not appointed judges who share their views. Today is the day to send out any letters if you want the best chance of having them printed before the election; here is my letter:

We should all pray for Supreme Court Chief Justice Rehnquist's recovery from cancer. His hospitalization reminds us that the next president will likely appoint several Supreme Court justices.

Remember who Bush has appointed to the courts over many Senators'
objections:

1. William Pryor, who called women's rights over their bodies "the worst abomination in the history of constitutional law" and who called the Voting Rights Act "an affront to federalism and an expensive burden."

2. James Holmes, who wrote that "the wife is to subordinate herself to her husband" and that "the woman is to place herself under the authority of the man" and who said that arguing in favor of a woman's right to reproductive choice is "abandoning what little morality our society still recognizes" which "was attempted by one highly sophisticated, historically Christian nation in our century - Nazi Germany."

3. Charles Pickering, who lobbied to get a reduced sentence in a cross-burning case against a Ku Klux Klansman and who wrote a legal article defending the practice of outlawing interracial marriage.

On November 2, remember that the candidate you vote for will determine which judges are appointed for life to decide the critical issues that America must face.
