He has talked about stem cell research many times and is appalled that we aren't going forward with it. This is part of his criticism on Bush being anti-science.

And on medical marijuana, he has said that his instincts are to allow it. He would put a moratorium on arrests. But that it does have to go through the process just like any other medication. And on marijuana in general, he's said he sees it like they did when he was a prosecutor. Going after the truly big dealers is more important than picking up street users. I think he'd go a long way to fix our drug laws and get the focus where it belongs. Treatment for users and jail for the the dangerous criminal dealers.
