He backed them against the evil Russian Empire. When the Russians went home, they, like an autoimmune disease, started to eat their own (to oppress the people of Afghanistan) and to train al Qaeda to bite the hand that fed them.
With that logic, 9/11 is Reagan's fault.

Take THAT, Neo-cons, wherever you are!

I feel so much better now that I got that out.
