You think George Allen's willingness to display a confederate flag and a noose would doom his presidential bid, so apparently you're prepared to believe anything.

Seriously, are you from Virginia? I am. I saw George Allen crush Mary Sue Terry in 1993, and then defeat Chuck Robb in 2000. Nobody's going to by the "Allen is a racist" charge. People didn't then, and they're even less likely now that Allen was a chief sponsor of a senate resolution apologizing for the senate's failure approve anti-lynching legislation. The Virginia electorate of today is hardly a hotbed of raciscm. After all, we elected the first black governor since reconstruction, which is more than New York and Massachusetts can say.

What do you expect would happen if the usual suspects like Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton and Howard Dean start accusing him of being a racist? Personally, I think it would probably boost Allen's standing in the polls. The simple fact is that anyone who could possibly buy into an "Allen is a racist" smear campaign isn't going to vote for him anyway.
