MAILBAG: Support Kerry, send him to the White House

GRAND FORKS - There is a large and growing sense - among Democrats, independents and even some Republicans - that George Bush has done great damage to our country in only three years.

In short, many of us believe he and the people around him are a serious threat to the honor and well-being of our country.

Feb. 3, Democrats and those independents who agree that Bush cannot be trusted with four more years at the helm of the federal government will cast a vote in the North Dakota primary to measure support here for the various candidates.

I hope you will join me in supporting Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry. His military bravery, support for veterans, years of experience in foreign affairs, understanding of hunting issues, understanding of the need for fair trade rules in global trade, and overall vision of lifting up all levels of American society make him a good candidate to head the ticket in North Dakota.

Kerry is an honest idealist with 35 years of practical, common sense experience in governing. He knows who he is, where we need to go and how to get there.
