"Lieberman wins!"

For sometime now I am spammed with e-mail from Joementum's campaign (as a result of sending him angry letters in the past).
I didn't discard this one because of the catchy title (thread header). here it is:

Dear Friends:

Last night, an overwhelming majority of delegates to the State Party's Nominating Convention, voted to send Joe Lieberman back to the United States Senate!!

Although the final tally, a decisive 67% to 33%, leaves Joe as the Party's endorsed candidate and we feel confident about our victory in August, we have hard work to do over the next weeks and months.

This work begins tomorrow, when we enter the next phase of our campaign ... with the opening of our campaign office in New Haven.

With your continued support, we will have a repeat of last night's VICTORY on August 8th!!!

Best,

Sean

Sean Smith

Can someone explain to me why is the party involved in endorsing candidates in the primary BEFORE voters had even a chance to know who is running?
Anyway, I posted this as a heads up to local activists - don't let this one slither back in!
