There are a lot of tensions in the Bronx, particularly between people from PR and the DR, between Hispanics and African Americans, and between Jewish people and African Americans. I've seen a number of white racists and so on. I guess the problem comes from the rapid gentrification of the area--many people who were traditional residents (although I only mean traditional since 1970 something) are being displaced. Prices are doubling every six months or so along the more desirable parts of the South Bronx, which are, after all, only a couple of subway stops away from Manhattan.
