9. Joe still commands considerable respect in the Senate.
He has sort of been the conscience of that body for a long time. He spoke for us in rebuking Clinton. He scolded but still voted against impeachment. He has one of the strongest liberal records in the Senate. We disagree with his Iraq stance, but anyone who has known him for a long time knows he hasn't changed; he's always been consistently liberal.
