86. Let me rephrase that.
Sloppy wording on my part, so apologies for that. Yes, people born in Puerto Rico have statutory citizenship under 8 U.S.C. 1402, but must still undergo the naturalization process for constitutionally guaranteed citizenship.

Notwithstanding, Puerto Rico is not a state, nor is it part of the contiguous U.S. U.S. citizens in Washington D.C. have no such barrier to their citizenship, yet are still taxed (which I believe PR citizens are not) and have no representation in Congress. It's a hideous situation, and it needs to be addressed.

Until you've been in a situation where you had serious need to contact a member of congress to advocate on your behalf and literally been hung up on and/or told that no one will listen to you, I don't think you'll fully understand how appalling that lack of representation really is.
