If you notice, McShame didn't pick any of the real up and coming Rethugs--you know, people who actually have a future in the party. Whatever the outcome of this election, McShame is done. Palin is expendable. I think, if this is Rovian, the plan is to give McShame the rope to hang himself and then Rove will have a more viable candidate in four years to run against Obama/Biden. In their minds, four years is like a drop in the bucket in the master plan of Rove's game.
