Implied in my opinion is that I believe the societal impact was larger...Of course, there is no crime worse than murder but Ms. Todd concocted this scheme to foment racial hatred with the desire it would derail the candidacy of the first black man to have a better than theoretical chance of attaining the highest office...

Ms. Brawley and Ms. Smith created an ad hoc excuse to explain away their misbehavior...In Ms. Brawley's case she was skipping school...In Ms. Smith's case she had murdered their two children...IMHO, neither was trying to foment racial hatred...Ms. Todd planned the whole event to cast a dispersion on an entire race and create a white backlash against Senator Obama...
