Lets compare Wright with Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval.
Wright: .339 HR:4 RBI:40 SP:.486
Sandoval: .336 HR:11 RBI:39 SP:.568
Similar stats, with the slight edge going to the Little Panda.
But check out their salaries:
Wright: 7,750,000
Sandoval: 401,750
Wright (4 HR?) is making approximately 19 times more than what Sandoval is making. And he's protected in that lineup you put up by Gary Sheffield who's pulling in 14 million....almost 5 million more than any position player on the Giants roster.
The Mets are nothing if not overpaid...and when a team is overpaid it often fosters complacency..
