21. They have it in the NHL
Overall I think the fans tend to get it right. Of course, there is always a few guys that get in based on past reputations and such. MLB has a few of those each year.

The NHL last year you could see why the system is completely fucked. The starting roster for the East was absolutely flooded with Habs that really didn't deserve to be there. But that's the nature of the beast. Overall, the All Star games in the major sports exists for the fans.

The unfortunate thing is that a lot of it based on trends. HRs are exciting in baseball so you could get to the break batting .260, have a low fielding percentage, and have 25 HRs to get you on the team.

OTOH; A sport like hockey is so much more than just goal scoring alone. There's a lot of work done by the those third and fourth liners to make it possible for your first and second liners to score goals. I always found those guys the most underappreciated in all of sports.
