He professed a real admiration of Reagan for awhile, though, but I believe that waned by the end of Bonzo's reign. Young is a real weirdo, politically and in general - one of those guys who isn't really tuned in, but very specific issues punch their way through and energize him to some cause or other. In the 80s it was Farm Aid, which brought him in contact with lots of farmers and country musicians, which, in turn, brought out his weird redneck side. (Not that farmers and country artists are all rednecks, but that's the aspect Young seems to have glommed on to.)
