I really, truly think that he's returned to his roots, which were far more liberal than Clinton. My dad always used to say he liked Al Gore, Sr. better than junior -- Sr. was against the Vietnam War, while his son served (albeit as a journalist). Like so many of us, we become our parents as we age (which in Gore's case is a good thing).
