"The old studies about black people" refers to people, and yes, that was indeed bigoted.

Religions are institutions that are built upon belief systems , not inherent qualities/genetic traits.

The person was indeed pondering a question about religion (not God) that I myself am not sure of the answer. It is not "ugliness" to question institutions, particuarly when said institution is responsible for spreading hatred, war, and other unseemly offenses against humanity.

There are several (of have no idea of how many) of us here who believe in God and are quite offended by the actions of many religious institutions. My faith isn't threatened by philosophy and debate. I don't understand your "faith".
