8. It's Nothing Like The Repugnican Strategy For Failures...Mission Accomplished
I had the fun of playing around with a Repugnican last weekend (he claims either he's a "libertarian" or "independent") and he used those same talking points. It didn't take much to put him on his heels...from the mismanagement of this invasion to the ineptitude of this regime in reading the realities on the ground and providing the proper number of troops or material to do the job to the bogus causes for the invasion.

He was spinning so fast he was in cetrafuge range...and no matter how he attempted to blame Democrats, I kept hammering him on who really made the decission. For almost all this invasion, including its critical early stages, it was a rubber stamp Repugnican House and Senate that made this war possible and they've done little to do more than give the inept leadership (and many Repugnicans now admit boooosh is a total fuck-up)...of course Democrats didn't have a "strategy", they didn't have the votes to make it happen. And, of course, there's that PA Congressman (I happened to be in suburban Philly at the time) named Murtha who did have a plan...and how ridiculed he was for proposing it (a plan many Repugnicans agree with now).

Corporate media plays the "conventional wisdom" game...an inside the beltway ego trip that surrounds their little world of access, bylines, cocktail parties and being pals with those in power (who provide those "annonymous sources"). They bleat among themselves throwing around spin and talking points as if they are the truth and this storyline is what seeps into their "reporting". Right wing media...the Mighty Wurlitzer...is well represented in these circles, while the non-existant Progressive media sits outside this party and thus the dialogue and narrative being presented by the corporate media.
