84. It would be very difficult to stop school shootings.

To stop school shooting you need to verify everyone is disarmed with metal detectors and armed guards.

Ideally, they would be located at a secure perimeter at the edge of school property, otherwise, you just end up having the shootings outdoors in a common area.

As long as your checking individuals for firearms, you might as well air sample for explosives.

Short of such drastic measures, there isn't much that can be done.

The response time for police at NIU was under 6 minutes, but this clearly was inadequate to save any lives. I don't see how response time could be reduced much lower, even if more police were hired.

The problem is that in a free society, it is difficult to limit bad behavior before it occurs.

Individuals who are planning on committing first degree murder, are willing to violate other laws first, such as falsifying documents, gun possession, concealed carry, and theft.

There is no one to blame but the shooter.

He purchased the firearms and ammunition.
He loaded the shotgun, three hand guns and several spare magazines.
He hid the firearms in a guitar case.
He drove to NIU.
He walked into Cole Hall
He aimed the guns at innocent unarmed people and pulled the trigger.
Not just once, but 48 times.

The person responsible for this carnage is dead. He will never do it again.
