And that's the attitude of much of modern society that hunting is no longer necessary or attractive. Face it: A couple of generations ago, hunting was represented by the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Clark Gable; now it's Ted Nugent and Dick Cheney. Game departments all over the country are bemoaning the loss of licence revenue because young people aren't interested in gunning down wild game; they've found other things to do.

I myself put away my hunting gear years ago; it wasn't so much the killing that bothered me, it was the increasingly high percentage of assholes I was sharing the sport with. And I've hunted all three of those Texas counties you mentioned; next time you're in Uvalde having barbecue for lunch, try that "Transylvania in the wonderous gloom" line on one of the natives and let me know what their response is....:)
