Lieberman said removing such content should be “a straightforward task since so many of the Islamist terrorist organizations brand their material with logos or icons identifying their provenance.”

Think about what he's suggesting here. First, Google should have image-recognition software which scans all uploaded videos for "logos or icons". Second, they should use this to automatically search for a list of logos supplied by the government (you can't expect Google to keep tabs on all "terrorist groups" unaided). Third, they should have some mechanism for reviewing matching videos and removing them: perhaps by automatically alerting a spook and letting the latter take the decision? Leaving aside the fact that the image recognition is technically harder than he suggests, this sounds like groundwork for a way for the US government to exercise editorial control over youtube, blocking any "branded" material they don't like. How long before they want to add face and voice recognition to this?
