29. Treading lightly in this house/thread, I see DU as a clearing house of information
--- yes, part opposition research, part think-pieces, part ain't-it-awful, part cheerleading, part mobilization, et al.

* I strongly disagree with the posts that have broad brush alleged that DUers who display those sources are closet wingnuts or aren't aware of the wingnuttiness of the sources or can only find wingnut sources for supporting what they really believe.

* Most of the time the message is, look what this idiot wingnut is saying, and the O.P. makes it clear that there is no agreement with the wingnuttiness.

* Limiting everything to "approved" sources would make this an echo chamber, and since discord loves a vacuum, we would soon be ripping one another to pieces, like we don't do that already, and the bottom line is that defining "permissibility" is a totalitarian ethic, not a Democratic or democratic one.
