The articles do NOT say that the act of execution of the convict costs more.
It says our current judicial process to impose death penalty is more
costly than obtaining a life sentence.

SO what needs to happen is to shorten the process between conviction and
carry out the execution.

And 90% of murderers do not need to be executed. Only those who murder
children, or premeditated multiple murders should be executed if there is
ZERO chance of innocence.

Examples of murderers deserving capital punishment:

All murderers of under age children
Richard Speck
John Wayne Gacy
All Serial killers
Mass murders of innocent civilians
Rape and murder especially if torture was also involved
