"The left" was given a "bad rap" and carefully marginalized politically through the last half of the previous century. To the point now where to be called "liberal" in many circles is an insult (never mind socialist or communist). This is what happens when a government gets taken over from within by a neofascist corporate/banking-military/intelligence/security-industrial/technological-complex whose sole aim is to preserve and broaden its wealth, power and control while circumscribing, assimilating, defeating and if need be destroying any perceived threat to its global hegemony. This has NOT been "politics as usual" since the installation of Bush the Second in 2000, the further installation of Obama, a white republican in black face, not withstanding. Yeah, unlike his predecessor he actually does have a clue and was actually elected, but anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear knew that the aforementioned neo-con-fascists would never allow anyone they couldn't control anywhere near the White House. So... there you have it. Welcome to the US of fucking A in the Twentyfirst god damned century.
