..................why don't we all agree to return the top tax rate back to what is was under Reagan*. How could they POSSIBLY be against THAT?

I suggest you try this on all the Reagan-loving conservatives you know. First you set them up by getting them to talk about what a genius Reagan was, and about how every decision he ever made was right, and about he was the greatest President in the history of this country, and about how he produced a booming economy, etc., etc., etc. Just them go on and on and on about it. Then hit them with the bombshell. Suggest that since Reagan was such a genius, and that he produced such a great economy, and all that stuff, that we return the tax rates to what they were under Reagan*. Then sit back and watch the mental gymnastics begin.

*FYI--in case you weren't aware, the top marginal tax rate under Reagan was 50%.
