4. He wants a Pope
That will tell Catholics that it is a sin not to vote Republician, to support liberals and thier businesses, and to think for themselves. And to say whatever he does is considered Christian.

I see the Pope gaining power as America turns into an empire.

29. That's right...
he's lining up a block vote for a Pope that will be a rubber-stamp for the Regressive RW policies of the extremist Fundamentalist government the Republican Party is becoming.

This stinks to high heaven.

31. Madsen nails it again! Great article.
I've had a really bad feeling about the forces of evil getting the new pope elected, and yet, most of Europe seems to be kicking the neocon buzzards OUT of office, more often than not, lately.

But the neocon demons have seen the benefit of taking over churches for many years now, and many, many churches have fallen to the forces of darkness, often for (faith based) money. In fact, the forces of evil have their greatest stronghold in organized religion, via the churches. The Catholic church would be their "grand prize". If they can get "their man" in as Pope, at this point in history, there may well not BE much more "history" to be had.

If I was "Satan", the churches WOULD be the place I would try to win over. Once you have the churches and the voting machines (to control who is elected to rule), you don't NEED to bother with individual souls...you can just DICTATE what masses of people WILL do and think, as if their safety and salvation depended on it.

Simple

One of the major names up for Pope is the head of Opus Dei.

Names we know:

Santorum

Scalia

Thomas

Novak

Eunice Shriver

This is NOT tinfoil hat mutterings, this is simple fact.

18. Of course he's going to DEMAND who's chosen. That's the TRUE reason
for his trip. Did you see that look of glee on his face when he and Laura were sitting there...near the Pope's body. His was NOT the face of a mourner, but of a spoiled dictator about to globally get his way again.

And because he SHALL, my bet is NO Italian Cardinal will make the final "cut." I'm betting more on the German or Austrian candidates. Think of the mass riches of the Catholic Church (and all that GOLD in the Cistine Chapel alone). Do you think for a moment that Shrubco will wait long to pillage and plunder the wealth there?

And now Monaco's leader has "passed" too? So much wealth and Power in flux.

24. This is disturbing
The Pope is one of the few world leaders with the moral authority to stand up to the President of the United States. Pope John Paul was a thorn in the Shrub's side and my personal take on his insistance on attending the Pope's funeral was as much to triumph over the old man's death as it was to curry favor with American Catholics.

Would Bush like a Pope with a world view closer to his own in the Vatican?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Did anyone else find that as ridiculous as I did?

I mean Bush gave the Pope a medal. The Pope.

I imagine Bush saying something stupid and arrogant, something like,

"Good job, your holiness. Keep on Popeing. Here is this metal. It is a very high honor to receive this metal from the great and powerful and important President of the United States. Now could ya please lay off that anti-war crap - it's hurting me in the polls."
