Who can we run against Obama in the Primary. |
|
I'm sorry, guys, but I really think we need to replace him with somebody who has some backbone and who does not "go along to get along."

2. Well he is voting for the filibuster . . . |
|
. . .however he wishes Dems did not have to rely on procedural maneuvers to delay the Alito confirmation. There are some on the DU who have a problem with the truth he spoke. This is from ABC THIS WEEK:
"There is an over-reliance on the part of Democrats for procedural maneuvers." -Obama
His point is we are forced to do this because we are not in the majority, that is not the preferred way for us to operate as a party. Some on the DU are too immature or ignorant to understand the spirit in which this statement was made. We all want the same thing however there are some of us who hope that as Dems we can get to a point where we raise the bar, instead of lowering it. I agree with the filibuster, but I hate that we have to use it.

3. As I responded on another thread about Obama, |
|
how is what he said today any different from the speech he gave at the convention? He received so much praise and admiration for calling America to rise above politics and is now criticizes for pointing out the failure of that idea because we are in such a minority and need to change that fact.

Obama isn't up for reelection until 2010.
This is one of the more ridiculous threads I have seen today.

Why in the world would you want to demolish someone who is quite possibly the most promising Democratic politician to come to the polical scene in a generation?
If he doesn't agree with one of your pet issues, you just get rid of him?
For chrissakes he's been in the Senate for a year.

12. Good Lord people, get a grip!!! |
|
Barack voted no on the cloture motion and he'll vote no for confirmation of Alito tomorrow.
Point your fingers and blame at the 20 Democratic Senators that voted yes for cloture today.
The filibuster is dead. Get over it.

15. Even better point at at least 9 Republican Senators |
|
starting with Snowe and Collins who are touted as "moderate" and blame them! If 9 "moderate" Republicans would have had the spine to vote NO and put Country over party, the four "moderate/conservative" Democrats from red states would not have mattered. Not to mention it wouldn't have mattered either way with only 45 Democrats. Until those less than hard-core party over country Republicans (hell, even Hagel should have had pressure on him!) get pressure to stand up and get a spine, every single vote in Congress is a foregone conclusion.

Why don't you do it. I mean, a guy who has a 70 percent approval rating across the state is BOUND to be vulnerable within his own party, right?
While you're unmoored from reality, why don't you remind everyone how good a job Howard Dean's doing as DNC chair...

19. The alleged problem is that he made two "mistakes." |
|
1) He publicly admitted that the votes weren't there for the filibuster, even though he himself publicly committed to vote for it. This was after Durbin, who as whip was doing the head counts, admitted the same thing, also publicly. I guess someone will call for Durbin's head now, too.
2) He publicly pointed out that stalling tactics will usually fail so long as the repubs control congress, and that last ditch obstructionism is no substitute for winning some elections. He wants the dems to control congress. That's obviously evil.
Jeez, I stay off the board for a couple of days, and big chunks of the population turns into George Romero extras. ("Must. Eat. Brains!") I can't even go into either GD forum anymore. It just makes me sick. Wake me up when September ends...

Obama is a REAL DEMOCRAT. He opposed CAFTA. He is anti-Iraq war. He is anti-Tax Cuts for the rich. Barack Obama is a REAL DEMOCRAT.
I support Obama.
