Got my cholesterol down fast!

I was recently diagnosed for the first time with very high cholesterol (total=261, LDL=177), and I have some family history of heart disease. I lost one of my parents and a grandparent to CHF. So, naturally, my PCP wanted to put me on a statin. I personally know someone who was crippled for life by a statin, so I refused the statin and committed to diet and lifestle changes for 90 days.

I immediately started back on the treadmill 5 days a week doing walk/jog intervals, and following Dr Joel Fuhrman's Nutritarian program. It's mostly vegetarian, but I do eat fish or lean poultry once or twice a week. I also am supplementing with garlic, bergamot, omega-3 and plant sterols in addition to my multi-vitamin.

So... long story short, I had a reason to have bloodwork again just 9 days after I started the program and my cholesterol has dropped drastically! My total cholesterol is now normal at 198 (63 pt drop). My LDL is down to 133 (44 pt drop). I never dreamed these changes would take effect so quickly and dramatically, but my doctor is astounded and so am I. I just wanted to share in case this can help anyone else here dealing with high cholesterol.

"Weird" is NOT name-calling.

It is TRUTH-TELLING.

It's weird to change your name multiple times.

It's weird to bury your ex-wife in a nearly unmarked grave on your golf course after she mysteriously falls down a staircase.

It's weird to be sexually attracted to your own daughter.

It's weird to be obsessed with your fellow Americans' menstrual cycles.

It's weird to want your Vice President hanged.

It's weird to think you have the right to force women to give birth against their will.

It's weird to want to strip Americans' of their rights.

It's weird to be the principal of multiple failed businesses, a sexual predator, and compulsive liar, yet hold yourself up as worthy of the Presidency.

Just to name a few.

All of this is way more than just weird, but weird definitely applies. Need I go on?

Please feel free to add your own

QUESTION: When Kamala wins....

Since it is the VP's duty to count the electoral college votes in Congress, who will count them now that she is not only the VP, but also the (winning) candidate? Does she still count them?

Dear President Biden

Dear President Biden,

I want to THANK YOU for standing strong (even while sick) and resisting these ridiculous calls for you to step aside. I voted for YOU, as did millions of other voters, and NO ONE has the right to nullify our votes. We, the People, have spoken.

At a time when our very democracy is being challenged by so many, your steadfast protection of our sacred votes is especially essential, and carries an historic gravity.

As Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock has so eloquently stated, our votes are our prayers for the kind of country we want to live in, and for the people who we believe are best qualified to lead our nation in manifesting that vision. There is NO QUESTION that the best, most qualifed person to do that in 2024 is YOU. Millions of my fellow Americans agree. We, the People, have spoken.

There will always be naysayers and they have a right to their opinions, but they have no right to an out-sized say in this upcoming existential election. Besides, I believe they are WRONG. Wrong in their opinions, and doubly wrong to try to snatch away and discard the votes of millions of us who voted for YOU. Let's make sure they are relegated to the dustbin of history.

I AM WITH YOU ALL THE WAY TO NOVEMBER AND BEYOND!!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and continued courage in the fight for our democracy.

Yours very sincerely,

***
This was my letter to our President, sent today. I'm hoping he hears from many of you as well. Here's the link:

I'm also letting our turncoat Congress critters have a piece of my mind as well. They need to feel blowback.

For when you need to rest your mind...

...and take a breather from these stressful times. Please take time for self care, my dear DU friends.

I saw retired Justice Stephen Breyer today

After our little New Hampshire town's 4th of July parade today, I was surprised to learn that Justice Breyer would be speaking on the steps of the historic old Town Hall (circa 1761!), on what has the potential to be our last Independence day without a monarch. It was honestly stunning and very poignant to see him today, almost 250 years since the founding of this nation. If not for the recent horrendous SCOTUS rulings, I would have been very excited and happy to see him, but instead, I felt anxious and more than a little sad. As he read out the words of the Declaration of Independence, I could feel an unspoken tension in the air hanging over the crowd that was gathered. I wanted deperately to hear his opinions and wisdom about where we are as a nation. But of course he was only there to read out the Declaration on the 4th of July. Afterward, I shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country and told him that we miss him on the court. I was happy to see he looked spry and in good health.

I am so grateful that Justice Breyer was able to step down from the court at a time of his choosing and our great President Joe Biden got to choose his successor. I will never forget this day.

Where is Nicolle Wallace today?

My cable schedule says Deadline Whitehouse is on now, but instead it is the UNWATCHABLE Katy Tur(d). I've had enough of her and her little band of Trumpettes.

Anyone know what's up with MSNBC's line-up today?
