Easterncedar's JournalMore positive signs in Maine
I drove 56 miles west into the generally red area along the Western Mountains yesterday. There were too many signs for the wrong choice, as expected, but there were more Harris signs by a wide margin, and lots of signs for the down ballot Dems. I was pleased to see that almost no TSF sign stood on the public way without at least one Harris sign next to it.
Please share a good protest song, old or new
Share a link if you can. H2O Man got me thinking with his Steppenwolf reference earlier. I miss the righteous music of my youth, and I think we could all use some.

Penzey's! Is this ok for Gen Discussion?
Hi, all. I love Penzeys and was a fan long before they became such a strong voice for our democracy. I just want to suggest that folks check out their website and sign up for their newsletter. Its inspirational!
AND note that giftcards are on sale right now. I buy them and use them for myself sometimes, and enjoy giving them as gifts, too. And if someone gets one and doesnt use it (hah, silly people) it works as a donation to a company that is doing real, true good in the world!

For everyone who wonders how we came to be quietly accepting the slide into fascism.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/article/2024/jun/19/will-lewis-washington-post-publisher-boris-johnson-partygate#img-1Does anyone else see it? It looks like the same arrogant pissy pursed-mouth expression thats fixed on Eloon Musks repellant face.
Im holding on to my WaPo subscription for now, but am holding my nose while I do.
After the Flood on Britbox, anybody?
I am in danger of bingeing! Really good drama from the creators of Happy Valley.
"Bodkin" anyone?
I havent finished it yet, but I think its one of the best series Ive seen. Darkly funny.
Northern lights!
The last time I saw such a show, there was a comet, Hale-Bopp, surrounded by the aurora. Tonight was another glorious display. Lots of red and shifting sheets and columns of green, at one point filling fully half the sky to the apex over my head. I wish I had had better dark, but even just a couple of miles west of town, it was amazing. Yow.
Im in central Maine, by the way. I hope folks farther west get a good view in turn!
Geminids are putting on a show
Even in town here (it IS a rather small town, but we do have streetlights) I just saw several nice falling stars within about 10 minutes.
