LakeVermilion's JournalHow will Krasnov deal with The Wall?
It is the most American of the monuments in Washington, D.C. It doesn't glorify war, but it glorifies service and equality. It is a monument that everyone reveres, regardless of party affiliation. It has names from across the globe and all of them are equal.
With the return of Reading Rainbow, I just watched one of my favorites: The Wall by Eve Bunting. I used to show it to my students before Memorial Day. For your intersest:
The story is read by a chico. If you choose to look at it, it also includes an interview with the creator: Maya Lin, a Chinese-American architect.
If Krasnov plans to impose a dictatorship, he can't leave The Wall in its place.
Any updates on the trade negotiations with Vietnam?
We're not going to make many deals if negotiation with an itsy bitsy country takes weeks,
Or maybe the tariffs are like the Obamacare replacement or infrastructure week.
Just sayin'.
FAFO: Trump tariff tumult has ripples...
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Calls from the U.S. to Roustan Hockey headquarters in Canada in recent weeks have been anything but routine, as bulk orders of name-brand sticks have suddenly become complicated conversations.
These customers want to know: When their orders ship, will they have to pay an additional 25% tariff? And we respond by saying, Well, right now we dont know, so they postpone their order or cancel their order because they want to know before they order what the cost is going to be, said Graeme Roustan, who owns the company that makes and sells more than 100,000 hockey sticks annually to the U.S. market.
The prospect of 25% tariffs by President Donald Trump on Canadian imports, currently paused for some goods but facing full implementation on Wednesday, has caused headaches if not havoc throughout the commercial ecosystem. The sports equipment industry is certainly no exception, with so many of the products manufactured for sports -loving Americans outside of the U.S.
No two countries in the world are intertwined athletically more than Canada and the U.S. are with hockey, either, making mere talk of a trade war a spreadsheet-shuffler and potentially a budget-buster for businesses based around the rink and the consumers of their products.

Now we're going to have some serious complaining when a hockey stick for a middle school kid costs $500.
Does SNL do the Oval Office with Krasnov, vance and Zelenskyy?
I don't know how to find humor there.
If I were Zelensky...
I would start a relationship with China. TSF is probably correct. There will be a WWIII. I will be fought in eastern Europe and the Middle East.
I need to travel to England. How long will it take to get a Visa?
I assume that travel is going to be more difficult.
You know who is sponging off the government?
If GOP Rem McCormick thinks kids and families are "sponging off the government," he should take a look at the companies that pay less than a living wage. Those companies and the profits are the sponges. They can pay less because the government is subsidizing those businesses with SNAP and Obamacare.
Rem McCormick is only smart by half. He should look at the companies that should really be out of business because they can't pay their own way.
TSF and Project 2025 are going to take apart our country and. there is going to be a lot of "unintended consequences."
When the country was Progressive: Peter, Paul and Mary, "This Land Is Your Land."
Only 30 years ago, we enjoyed this on public television. (I was lucky to be a Boomer.)
Truly the beauty of a progressive America!
Has anyone listened to season two of Ultra?
On a flight from Europe yesterday, I listened to Rachel Maddows podcasts. They are a must for DUers.
Trump isnt the first to try a right wing coup. The forces behind him have always been there. We havent elected enough people who understand the far right.
If we get out of the next two years, well be lucky.
The joke is on MAGA's, not us...
I see posts here, regarding cutting back to conserve dollars. These are probably good ideas. We know that changes are coming.
I cant help but think that a lot of MAGAs are thinking that they wont be touched. Many dont expect their Social Security, Obamacare and Medicare to change. For some, the change will be devastating. Also getting the surprise will be the middle aged children, who may have to open their homes to their parents and their children (if theyre not already there.)
