"Those in charge will remember what not to do"

Good use of aboriginal knowledge.

Oregon Department of Transportation learned a lesson over 50 years ago of what not to do.

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

Double weird for me.

Saw this song performed live at the Incline Village Hyatt at Tahoe circa 1980 by Elmo and Patsy. It was a popular holiday novelty tune then in Northern California that noticed the novelty because saw the tune live by the original group first, just by coincidence. That is why song stuck in my head.

Double weird because had no idea of song history until just now reading the wiki. The history was that the song was new and first performed by Elmo and Patsy at the Tahoe Hyatt.

In the song's lyrics, the narrator describes their grandmother venturing into a snowstorm on Christmas Eve. The following morning, her family discovers her lifeless body, bearing unmistakable signs of having been trampled by Santa Claus and his reindeer. The narrator's grandfather shows little concern over his wife's demise, while the rest of the family mourns Grandma and debates whether to open or return her gifts. Subsequently, the narrator declares to friends and neighbors that Santa is unfit to carry a driver's license.

According to Brooks, he came up with the idea for the song after observing a "tipsy relative" of his.[1] Brooks's uncle, Foster Brooks, was a famous comedian well known for his act as a drunk.[2] After his own band dissuaded him from recording the record himself, he sat in with Elmo and Patsy at the Hyatt Lake Tahoe in December 1978, and after the show he offered the song to the duo, who were instantly impressed and commissioned a cassette of the song for them to learn.[2] Elmo claimed, after his divorce from Patsy, that Patsy never sang on the record (even as a backup vocalist) and was only credited because their established double act used both names, noting in the interview "that's another story.

Here is a later cover of the song

Opinion The Gaza War Opened a Moral Chasm Between American Jews and Israel

This is a moment of reckoning for many American Jews, whose institutions are either paralyzed or morally compromised in the face of the mass killing in Gaza. So what are the options for U.S. Jews who refuse to defend the indefensible, but won't abandon Israel either? (subtitle)

After two years of horror and devastation, we are living in a new reality, one that offers a glimmer of relief, still deeply shadowed by grief. Since October 7, 2023, we've seen death in Gaza and southern Israel on an unimaginable scale. Hamas' terror attack killed more than 1,200 people and took hundreds hostage. The Israeli response reduced most of Gaza to rubble: tens of thousands killed, families displaced, man-made famine, civilians shot while trying to get food, journalists and medics shelled while doing their jobs.

And even now, as the guns fall silent, the wounds – physical, moral, and political – run unimaginably deep.

For many American Jews, this is also a moment of reckoning. For millions, Israel has long been central to identity – but so has liberalism. And as liberals, American Jews have been horrified by Israel's extremist, ultra-nationalist turn. A Washington Post poll shows that 61 percent of American Jews say Israel has committed war crimes. A shocking 4 in 10 say Israel is guilty of genocide against Palestinians.

But perhaps more to the point: liberal American Jews are stunned that so many Israelis, and too many of their own institutions, are willing to justify the catastrophic destruction of Gaza and mass killing that took place there.

Vaillancourt Fountain is horrid as far as art but U2 did a concert there once.

"With the assistance of the legendary Bill Graham, U2, performed a top secret, free concert on November 11, 1987. The “Save the Yuppies” concert was performed on flatbed trucks, in front of the Vaillancourt Fountain, in Justin Herman Plaza. The concert was the band’s idea. It was very spontaneous & planned in less than 24 hours."

There are video clips of the prison and incident and also

the response in Israel.

Some IDF and Israeli's are monsters but far from all. There is a substantial negative uproar against the assaults by Israelis. Maj Gen Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi is brave woman of integrity.
