Hard Choices: Hillary Clinton Admits Role in Honduran Coup Aftermath
http://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/09/30/hard-choices-hillary-clinton-admits-role-honduran-coup-aftermathIn a recent op-ed in The Washington Post, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used a review of Henry Kissingers latest book, World Order, to lay out her vision for sustaining Americas leadership in the world. In the midst of numerous global crises, she called for return to a foreign policy with purpose, strategy and pragmatism. She also highlighted some of these policy choices in her memoir Hard Choices and how they contributed to the challenges that Barack Obamas administration now faces.
The chapter on Latin America, particularly the section on Honduras, a major source of the child migrants currently pouring into the United States, has gone largely unnoticed. In letters to Clinton and her successor, John Kerry, more than 100 members of Congress have repeatedly warned about the deteriorating security situation in Honduras, especially since the 2009 military coup that ousted the countrys democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya. As Honduran scholar Dana Frank points out in Foreign Affairs, the U.S.-backed post-coup government rewarded coup loyalists with top ministries, opening the door for further violence and anarchy.

Hillary Clinton’s foundation received donations from foreign governments and agency promoting Keysto
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/hillary-clintons-foundation-received-donations-from-foreign-governments-and-agency-promoting-keystone-xl-10055024.htmlAs Hillary Clinton increasingly is mentioned as the top Democratic 2016 presidential candidate, a look into donations to her foundation by the Wall Street Journal has revealed gifts from foreign governments and a Canadian agency supporting the Keystone XL pipeline.
Mrs Clinton has yet to confirm that she will run for president in next years elections, but she is easily the most popular option in a limited field. Should she run, some donations to the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation could raise ethical questions.
When Mrs Clinton began her service as US secretary of state in 2009, the foundation stopped accepting gifts from foreign governments. But Mrs Clinton has rejoined the foundation and it again has been accepting donations from overseas.
Among the nations that have donated money to the foundation are the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Australia, Germany and a Canadian government agency that promotes the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
Hillary's stance on Women's rights
In her speech, she recalled campaigning for "teenage celibacy" a decade ago. She emphasized "the important role that parents can play in encouraging their children to abstain from sexual activity.
Research shows that the primary reason that teenage girls abstain is because of their religious and moral values. We should embrace thisand support programs that reinforce the idea that abstinence at a young age is not just the smart thing to do, it is the right thing to do."
Abortion is "a sad, even tragic choice to many, many women," said Clinton. Then she went further: "There is no reason why government cannot do more to educate and inform and provide assistance so that the choice guaranteed under our constitution either does not ever have to be exercised or only in very rare circumstances."
Here is what Hillary Clinton thinks of women's rights. In her own words.

Sarah Palin: Dying caribou have to ‘take one for the team’ so we can expand oil pipelines
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/sarah-palin-dying-caribou-have-to-take-one-for-the-team-so-we-can-expand-oil-pipelines/rmer Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said this week that caribou that died as a result of oil pipeline expansions would have to take one for the team.
According to Forbes Christopher Helman, Palin delighted members of the oil and gas industry in a speech to the North American Prospect Expo (NAPE) in Texas on Thursday.
She recalled to the crowd that what she missed most about being Alaskas governor was making decisions about oil and gas exploration.
Energy is my baby, Palin explained, adding that oil and gas could feed and fuel a hungry nation with what God has created for mans responsible use.
David Carr Dead at 58
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_OBIT_CARR?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-02-12-23-39-47NEW YORK (AP) -- Media columnist David Carr, who wrote the Media Equation column for The New York Times and penned a memoir about his fight with drug addiction, collapsed at his office and died on Thursday. He was 58.
Just hours before his death he had moderated a "Times Talks" conversation with Edward Snowden, director Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald about the documentary "Citizenfour," which chronicles Snowden's leak of National Security Agency documents. Carr, engaged as always, drew them out with pointed questions and wry observations to speak candidly about the film
