We had one arrest at the No Kings rally in Myrtle Beach. A lady rode by in her Trump-adorned car and — pointed a handgun at two people from her car window.
She now says that she had 18 hours to reflect on how ignorant and wrong her action was. That time was of course the period she spent in jail last night waiting for the judge to give her a $100,000 cash bond this morning. Her picture in her Trump Tshirt was at the top of the article.
Tipping at a MAGA bar
Met a friend for a drink at a lounge near his home yesterday. Turned out their clientele were old men from the neighborhood who sit around a gripe about things.
There was a sign behind the bar: ”10% Tariff on all Canadian Whiskey and Tequila … Just kidding, but please buy American.”
I keep some Canadian coins in my car console since I travel there on occasion, so I left a tip - one Loonie (a Canadian dollar coin). Also left a note: “Next time I will tip one Peso. Just kidding, I won’t be coming back.”

Whatever happened to the Harriet Tubman $20 bill?
Harriet Tubman was scheduled to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill a few years ago. I recall that Trump stopped the process soon after he was sworn in.
Why hasn’t it been done by now? I assume that if Trump could stop it, the current Administration could re-instate it.
Musk played Trump for a chump
Stock prices for Tesla and Trump’s media company have both been slumping badly for several weeks. Tesla stock is down over 22% for the past month, and DJT down more than 42%.
When Trump agreed to appear on an interview last night on Twitter-X with Musk, Trump posted a promo about it on X, breaking his years-long pledge to only post on his own social media network.
The effect of Trump seemingly abandoning his forum in deference to the much bigger Musk platform? Approaching midday this morning, Tesla stock is up 3.8%, while Trump stock is down over 4%.
While both rich nepo babies are crazy, one actually understands how to make money with a company.
A suggestion concerning words and labels
Words do matter, especially in the sphere of public discourse, which is why I alternate between amusement and irritation when people use silly phrases like 'demon rat', or cannot add the "ic" to the end of the word Democrat when using it as an adjective.
However, I now refuse to use the term 'Republican' when referring to the political party that won the Civil War and had some honorable and wise members as recently as the past decade.
That party no longer exists, and its replacement should be correctly referred to as "The Trump Party." I know most of its followers will not object to this re-labelling, and that is part of the reason I think it should become the common usage for the new anti-democratic autocratic party.
