Gov. Brad Little signs bill to let Idaho doctors refuse care if it violates beliefs

I searched DU and didn’t find this news item

https://idahocapitalsun.com/briefs/gov-brad-little-signs-bill-to-let-idaho-doctors-refuse-care-if-it-violates-beliefs/

Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed into law a bill that prevents health care professionals and entities from being forced to participate in nonemergency procedures that would violate their sincerely held religious or moral beliefs.

Sen. Carl Bjerke, R-Coeur d’Alene, and Rep. Bruce Skaug, R-Nampa, co-sponsored House Bill 59, dubbed the Medical Ethics Defense Act.

The bill takes effect immediately, through an emergency clause.

Little signed the bill into law Wednesday, according to the governor’s office legislation tracker.

The Idaho Legislature widely passed the bill on party-line votes, with opposition from all 15 Democratic lawmakers and support from all 86 Republican lawmakers who were present for votes on the bill. (There are 90 Idaho Republican lawmakers.)

“Health care providers shall have the right of conscience and, pursuant to this right, shall not be required to participate in or pay for a medical procedure, treatment, or service that violates such health care provider’s conscience,” the bill states.

So if I was doctor and a democrat in Idaho, could I legally refuse to treat MAGA?

Activists hand out Musk B-Gone air fresheners at London Tesla store

Activists staged an anti-Elon Musk protest at Tesla’s flagship London store by offering people Musk B-Gone air fresheners.

The stunt came from the group Everyone Hates Elon, who have made it their mission over the last couple of months to let people know just how awful the billionaire is.

This has usually taken the form of posters put up around London’s public transport system, but this time they decided to target Tesla’s flagship store in the capital.

One of the members of the group took some special Musk B-Gone air fresheners down to the car showroom, handing them out to customers and passers-by and even putting a couple in the cars.

They had to be escorted out the building.

Federal judge orders reinstatement of workers at multiple agencies, unions say

Source: https://fedscoop.com

Afederal district court judge ordered the reinstatement of probationary workers fired from several agencies Thursday in a move that broadens relief he granted in a previous order, according to unions and organizations who brought the case.

During a hearing, Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted and further extended a temporary restraining order against the Office of Personnel Management and acting Director Charles Ezell, per a statement from the American Federation of Government Employees, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and other plaintiffs.

“AFGE is pleased with Judge Alsup’s order to immediately reinstate tens of thousands of probationary federal employees who were illegally fired from their jobs by an administration hellbent on crippling federal agencies and their work on behalf of the American public,” Everett Kelley, AFGE’s national president, said in a statement included in the release.

That order includes the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Interior, Energy, Defense, and Treasury. Alsup also prohibited OPM from giving guidance to agencies on employee terminations and asked the agencies to provide notice of their compliance to the court, the unions’ statement said. Per the court docket, a written memorandum order is forthcoming.

Unions and organizations who brought the lawsuit celebrated the order as a win for thousands of federal probationary workers who have been fired.

This might be useful given our current situation:

In 2007, the country of South Africa's Health Minister advocated using garlic & lemon rind to fight AIDS.

She said "Not only do they give you a beautiful face and skin, but they also protect you from disease."

A study by South African scientists said Wednesday there was no evidence that foods such as garlic and beetroot were a substitute for AIDS medicine, disputing claims by the country’s health minister.

The report — confirming what experts worldwide have said — was likely to increase pressure on the minister, who has been ridiculed for promoting olive oil, garlic, lemon and the African potato for people with AIDS and for questioning the effectiveness of anti-retroviral drugs.

Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang is also under fire because of the dismissal of her deputy and over newspaper allegations her liver transplant may have been needed because of alcohol abuse. Recent news reports also said she was banned from Botswana for 10 years in the 1970s after being accused of theft at a hospital.

“The panel has concluded that no food, no component made from food, and no food supplement has been identified in any credible study as an effective alternative to appropriate medication,” said professor Barry Mendelow, one of the authors of the 300-page study by the Academy of Science of South Africa.

MSNBC top changes occured after "a need for more Republican voices on the network" was expressed by new top exec.

I am just summarizing what's been going on at MSNBC recently, in the light of MSNBC "needing a more repbulican view":
I apologize in advance: I am cobbling this together from online news - and am also very busy at work at the same time - so it's a little rough. Quotes are from the articles - links below.

Who's who:
MSNBC is now under a company called Spinco
Mark Lazarus -- Spinco / MSNBC boss (the guy who is expressing a need for more republican voices)
Rashida Jones -- was ousted on Jan 14, 2025 as MSNBC president .
Rebecca Kutler then repaced Jones.

SpinCo CEO Mark Lazarus expressed his desire for the new direction multiple times over the past month, seeking to shed the perception of liberal bias at MSNBC.

MSNBC told by top exec to add more Republican voices as pay cuts for liberal hosts are revealed

As for The ReidOut, its undoing was confirmed by MSNBC's new president Rebecca Kutler Sunday - weeks after the boss of the media firm that now oversees MSNBC, Spinco, reportedly expressed a need for more Republican voices on the network.
