Yosemite Falls - Upper Fall with 'Snow Cone'

[link:|

The Snow Cone is what is known as that base of ice on the pool at the bottom of the upper fall. From that pool, the Lower Fall flows.

I found these pretty stones

Okay, technically this is a screenshot of photographing my hand out over my back deck with the real time lay-over of the Sky View app 10 or so, minutes ago.

Sky View shows several planets nearly aligned. In this case, Mars is eclipsing Saturn with Neptune and Venus above.

Fun Fun Fun!

Historic Gold Rush town of Hornitos, CA - Ghiradelli General Store. Taken yesterday, April 8th

Hornitos, CA was apparently a wild Gold Rush town of money and debauchery. Also the place of the first Wells Fargo Express transferring $40k in gold daily.

In 1849, Ghirardelli received news of the gold strike at Sutter's Mill and sailed to California. After doing some prospecting, Ghirardelli opened a general store in Stockton, California, offering supplies and confections to fellow miners. Ghirardelli's tent-based store was one of the first shops set up in the area.

Several months later, Ghirardelli opened a second store on the corner of Broadway and Battery in San Francisco, which became, in 1850, his first establishment in that city.

Ghirardelli had a general store in Hornitos, California, between 1856 and 1859, during a gold rush,[4] where he perfected his chocolate recipes. The remains of the store can still be seen in town.

Behind the Picture: Picasso Draws With Light

Through the 80's to 2000''s off and on, I experimented with flashes covered in colored gels to paint with light with an open shutter (on print film). Farther down are some open shutter pics of sand mermaids at night lit up by both my vehicle headlights and colored flashes, about yr 2000.

In looking into the history of it I read that Picasso was one of the early pioneers of light drawing. I just found this article online this morning to share here.

When LIFE magazine’s Gjon Mili, a technical prodigy and lighting innovator, visited Pablo Picasso in the South of France in 1949, the meeting of these two artists and craftsmen resulted in something extraordinary. Mili showed Picasso some of his photographs of ice skaters with tiny lights affixed to their skates, jumping in the dark, and the Spanish genius’s ever-stirring mind began to race.

This series of photographs, known ever since as Picasso’s “light drawings,” were made with a small electric light in a darkened room; in effect, the images vanished as soon as they were created and yet they still live, six decades later, in Mili’s playful, hypnotic images. Many of them were also put on display in early 1950 in a show at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
